I hope you’ll join me in 2026 for a year of quiet activism. I’m planning to share safe soundscape content, challenges, polls, quizzes, and educational activities.

Why?

Health and communication are universal human rights. But if ears bled from widespread noise pollution, our homes, sidewalks, and public spaces would be awash in crimson.

For too long, we’ve normalized noise and all its health dangers.

For too long, we’ve left folks unprotected, even during critical brain development periods in babies to teens.

For too long we’ve ignored how noise pollution causes speech communication breakdowns, especially for those with hearing health problems.

Get Ready for Safe Sound Science

I’m planning on covering various topics including:

  • The 15 Minute Safe Listening Challenge.
  • Personal listening agreements for children and teens.
  • How to calculate your annual noise dose (no sound level meter needed).
  • How to noise map your home or school.
  • How to do a soundwalk in your community.
  • Noise control for dangerous soundscapes.

Harmful environmental noise is 100% preventable. I’ll be sharing more details in 2026. If I’m sidetracked by health problems again, I’ll keep sharing my content as regularly as I can.

Hope you join me in my year of quiet activism! Please let me know in comments what topics you’re interested in. Jan
